How often have you joined a gym or a fitness
center, went there regularly for a couple of weeks and left abruptly because
you were not seeing the desired results? It’s a common story for a lot of
people - nothing surprising!
What is surprising is the after effect.
After a couple of months, the realisation that you are piling on kilos hits you
home and suddenly, you want to join a gym, once again. You get frustrated from
starting from point 0 all over again and struggling with fitness. It is almost
like a never ending cycle.
You do not seem to understand the reason why
you are starting everything from scratch. The sole reason behind this is that
you are giving up too early. If you do not give up, you do not have to start
over again and again.
Expecting Quick Results?
If you are among those people who are tired
of starting exercises all over again, then the first thing that you need to
keep in mind is to stop giving up.
Always remember that doing some exercise is better than doing nothing.
The primary reason why people give up on
exercises is that they are witnessing no change in their weight. Overweight
people do exercise to lose weight, and not seeing any difference in their
weight could demoralize them which could be the reason why give up.
If you are facing the same issue, then you
need must be thinking that giving up is the best possible option right
now. However, you need to keep in mind that losing weight is a hard task. Ask
yourself that whether you are performing enough exercises, or you are
controlling your diet or not.
In some of the cases, you might lose inches
instead of the weight. There is a chance that you are only measuring the weight
and not the inches which is why you are not witnessing any results.
You can begin measuring the inches to
identify whether you are getting results or not. If you are not getting any
results, then the exercises you are doing are not sufficient, and you need to
increase your efforts.
The biggest mistake that people commit is expecting results instantly. Always remember that exercising is a long-term process and might take a while before it shows its results. You need to wait at least three months before you expect any results.
Gaining Weight
Without a doubt, gaining weight is one of
the worst health conditions. In some of the cases, you might gain some extra
pounds after working out. In that situation, giving up may feel best to you as
you will not gain any extra weight.
On the other hand, you need to know that fat
is not the only thing that contributes to your body weight. Even after working
out, if your weight is still increasing, then it could be a sign that you are
converting the fat into muscles. If this is not the case, then it could also
mean that your body is retaining more water in the cells which could act as a
fuel for your body. This scenario is most common in new exercisers.
Inappropriately Performed
Exercises
Inappropriately doing exercises can do more
harm than good. It could not only affect your body posture but could also cause
some severe injuries. When people face any such injury during their workout,
they just give up and think of never starting again. However, some people
consider delayed onset muscle soreness as an injury and give up on the
exercises. You should always remember that this pain is only temporary and will
fade out as soon as your muscles are habitual to exercises.
On the other hand, if you face any injury
while working out, then it could only mean that you are doing it the wrong way.
Make sure that you are performing the exercises correctly and it will ensure
that you will never face any injury due to improper exercising. Unless you are
an athlete, you do not need to push your body too hard or exercise for hours in
the gym. All you have to do is exercise
sufficiently, and you will be one step closer to being completely fit and
healthy.
Endnote
Giving up on exercises has never helped
anyone in achieving their fitness goals. To get the best results, you need to
stay consistent, and and never think of giving up.
